Manuka Honey – Supply Chain Integrity review
The integrity of the Manuka honey supply chain was reviewed.
- The review explored the outcome and effects of augmenting Methylglyoxal (MGO) bearing Manuka honey to non-bearing product on expected export volumes and associated overseas earning potentials.
- The study deduced that Manuka honey export volumes, as reported from official NZ Statistics, are not an accurate measure of the commodities global availability.
- It further concluded that reported “media variances” between recorded NZ exports relative to the volume of Manuka honey available for overseas consumption were not an indicator of counterfeit product being distributed in the market place.
